Sheffield's motorists can now vote on which congestion hotspots should be tackled by the Council thanks to the local Liberal Democrats 'Driving Me Crazy' scheme. Local people have nominated 27 suggestions which aim to stop Sheffield's road network driving them crazy.

Among the 27 schemes are problems with illegal right-turners at the junction of Abbeydale Road and Broadfield Road, where clearer signs are proposed as a solution. Full details of the 27 schemes are listed on the website.

The Driving Me Crazy 2010 initiative follows a similar scheme in 2008. After the vote two years ago, schemes have been implemented including restoration of lanes which had been removed on Bradfield Road, Hillsborough, junction changes and other alterations.

Councillor Ian Auckland, Lib Dem Cabinet member for Transport, said: -

"Driving Me Crazy puts Sheffielders in the driving seat making real choices about priorities on the city's roads. It just goes to show that the Liberal Democrats believe that the Town Hall doesn't always know best and it should be local people that decide how the Council should be working."
