Lib Dems will deliver two new schools for Myers Grove and Wisewood

The Liberal Democrat Group on Sheffield City Council have promised the parents of both Myers Grove and Wisewood schools that they will deliver funding to deliver two new schools. After the council took the decision to keep Wisewood and Myers Grove Schools open the local Labour Party have been misinforming the public by claiming there will be no new school or investment at Myers Grove.

The Labour Party claim that Wisewood has to close to secure new investment for a new school at Myers Grove - this is false. However, Liberal Democrats have committed themselves to work for new schools for both Wisewood and Myers Grove, whether to be through securing Government investment or directly funding the improvements through the councils own capital funds.

Cllr Paul Scriven, Leader of the Sheffield Liberal Democrat Group, said: -

"At the last election Myers parents told us that they wanted a new school, and Wisewood parents told us that they wanted their school to remain open. This is exactly what we are going to deliver for both communities."

"Labour are scare-mongering and spreading blatant lies for their own political gain. They are trying to drive a wedge between communities in the North West by falsely claiming Wisewood must close for Myers Grove to get a new school."

"Myself and my Lib Dem colleagues are committed to ensuring that there are two excellent new schools serving both communities. Through both schools working together they can deliver a comprehensive curriculum within excellent modern buildings. We are committed to getting the best deal for both communities."
