Sheffield's Liberal Democrat group have elected their front line team to put forward an alternative Lib Dem vision for the council over the next year. Lib Dems will carry on exposing the failings of the Labour run council whilst suggesting positive policy alternatives. Cllr Paul Scriven has been re-elected as leader of the Liberal Democrat group. The Shadow Cabinet team comprises of: Leader: - Cllr Paul Scriven Economic Regeneration and Deputy Leader: - Cllr David Baker Finance and Performance: - Cllr Andrew Sangar Transport: - Cllr Sylvia Dunkley Sustainable Environment: - Cllr Simon Clement-Jones Streetscene and Greenspaces: - Cllr Shaffaq Mohammed Adult Services: - Cllr Ian Auckland Safer Neighbourhoods: - Cllr Bob McCann Children's Service: - Cllr Sylvia Anginotti Liberal Democrats have pledged to work with local communities around Sheffield on issues important to them. Issues of particular importance include anti-social behaviour, environmental issues, transport and the state of the roads. Liberal Democrats are planning to build on the 2006 local election results. If the same trend is repeated in 2007 then Labour will lose control of the council and there will be many more Lib Dem councillors. Councillor Paul Scriven, Leader of the Sheffield Liberal Democrats, said: - "I'm pleased with the new team that will be the major opposition to Labour over the next year. We will hold Labour to account on issues were we disagree with them, whilst also putting forward a viable positive alternative agenda for change within the Town Hall" "We will be concentrating on working within communities across Sheffield trying to improve the local environment for everyone. We have listened to the people of Sheffield and we will be responding by prioritising key issues such as anti-social behaviour, the state of our roads, transport and environmental issues" "I would like to thank Cllr Diane Leek for her hard work on the team last year. This year she has decided not to stand for the Shadow Cabinet in favour of becoming the chair for Netherthorpe, Hillsborough and Walkley Area Panel"
